Improvement Direct is looking for a Network Administrator who will be responsible for information technology systems and server security.  In this position you will contribute to the business plan regarding technology and systems required to maintain company operations and competitiveness. You will need to recognize new developments in information systems technology, and anticipate organizational modifications.  You will also be responsible to ensure that system uptime and performance requirements are met.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Responsible for the execution of technology projects, including but not limited to new business development projects, new systems implementation, phone server upgrades and all IT related responsibilities inside of Improvement Direct, Inc.
•  Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary. 
• Responsible for all processes involving systems engineering, change management, disaster recovery and security provisioning. Diagnose and repair network issues at the physical layer.
• Troubleshoots problems with server systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
• Anticipates and corrects potential issues by making recommendations and changes to our system architecture.  

Required Skills and Experience: 

•  5-8 years experience with Linux / Unix
•  3+ years experience working in a high traffic, high availability e-commerce environment
•  2+ years experience administering Windows servers
•  Advanced understanding of the following:
  •  DNS, Firewalls, VPN's, & Switches
  •  Nagios, Cacti or other monitoring software
  •  ESX & VMWare installation/performance tuning
  •  Shared Storage (EMC, HP)
  •  Cisco Routers
  •  Java Server administration and tuning
•  Basic understanding of Active directory, networks, Microsoft SQL 

Recommended Skills and Experience:

•  Antivirus Software, Backup and Recovery
•  Help Desk Administration & Desktop support 
•  Experience in a database environment with over 150 web servers
•  Experience with ColdFusion or other web languages
