We are looking for a DBA with relevant industry experience and an information systems educational background. Improvement Direct is a highly dynamic and collaborative team. The DBA will work in fast-paced deadline driven environment. The DBA will provide structure and an understanding of all aspects of database administration and how it impacts the software development cycle. Creation of documentation, QA, testing, and reporting standards will be developed and implemented company wide.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyze and optimize system architecture scalability, efficiency, and stability
- Oversee database functionality, clustering data centers for high traffic use
- Installing, upgrading, servicing, migration, backup, and maintenance of existing data structures
- Develop new SQL architectures, write scripts and code to support site launches
- Develop e-commerce tools and business applications to streamline internal practices
- Created architectures that facilitate easy collaboration between design and programming
- Create and monitor coding, QA, and testing standards
- Troubleshoot data and query errors as reported by team members
- Rapid production of functional mock ups and templates from verbal specs or PSDs
- Work with the cross-functional teams to forecast programming resources
- Comfort with juggling multiple large and complex projects under strict deadlines
Required Skills
- 5-8 years DBA experience
- 2+ years exp. with High availability
- Experience with clustering, mirroring, and relication
- Experience with system administration and architecture
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and other web development tools
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to develop database schemas and write clean SQL queries and code under tight deadlines

- Experience working in a high traffic, e-commerce environment
- Experience with MS SQL and SQL Server Configuration and Administration
- Experience in a database environment with over 150 web servers
- Experience with ColdFusion, Java, and JavaScript
